Why you should start your day with some raspberry syrup
As the name implies, raspberry syrup is a bright red sugary syrup with a raspberry flavor. It's made from raspberry fruit and is a perfect way to give your coffee an extra fruity flavor. Raspberry syrup has a great range. It pairs excellently with several types of coffee drinks, from lattes and cappuccinos to iced coffee. It's best to use raspberry syrup in moderation because it has a strong flavor that can easily overpower your coffee taste. So, adding little drops of raspberry syrup to your cup of Joe will give it an extra flavor boost and a hint of sweetness.
Aside from the sweetness and tangy kick, it brings to your coffee, raspberry syrup has several health benefits. For starters, it helps boost blood circulation as raspberry is an anticoagulant that contains potassium and regulates blood pressure. It's also great at improving eyesight and digestion health.

Raspberry Coffee Drinks Inspiration
It's quite unusual for different coffee roasts to work with a particular flavor — not raspberry, though. It pulls it off easily. You can start with a medium roast, but dark and light roasts also work well. Light roast coffee is typically fruity and acidic, making it perfect for raspberry. Dark roasts are usually nutty with a chocolate hint, pairing perfectly with raspberry. The result often tastes like a classic dessert combination of raspberry and chocolate. Whichever one you prefer depends on the taste, which is based on the amount of raspberry syrup you add. Ideally, 1-2 tablespoons is enough.
Here are some raspberry coffee drink recipes presented in a list form:

Making Raspberry Syrup at Home
Contrary to what most people think, raspberry syrups contain three basic ingredients - water, sugar and rasberries. Making yours at home is easier than it looks. Here's a step guide on how to make homemade raspberry syrup.
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds of raspberry
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 quart water (4 cups or approx one ltr)
NOTE: You'll need two medium-sized saucepans and a fine mesh strainer.
Steps:
- Rinse your raspberries clean with water
- Put the raspberries in a saucepan
- Pour in water and cook for about 20 minutes. Skim all foam that rises to the top.
- After boiling for 20 minutes, the raspberries should've lost their colors, and the water should be deep red. Remove it from the fire and strain the raspberry liquid into another pot using your fine mesh strainer. As tempting as it may be, DO NOT press down the solid raspberries from the liquid, as it'll make your syrup cloudy.
- After straining the raspberry liquid, do away with the solid raspberries. Add 2 cups of sugar to the berry liquid and boil again while stirring to dissolve the sugar.
- Allow the syrup to simmer for about 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves completely. Skim any foam that rises to the top.
- Remove the pot from heat and allow it to cool completely. Pour your raspberry syrup into a glass container and seal it. You can also keep it in a refrigerator.
